How Re-circulation Systems in ACM Improve Particle Size Distribution

1. Introduction

The re-circulation system in air classifier mill (ACM) plays a crucial role in enhancing particle size distribution, it ensures that oversized particles are repeatedly processed until they reach the desired size.

2. How re-circulation systems improve particle size?

2.1. Continuous processing

When material enters grinding chamber, there would be huge force from high-speed rotating grinding disc, this huge force can make particle size smaller. However, not all particles can reach target size on initial grinding. The re-circulation system can resend these oversized particles to grinding chamber for further processing.

2.2 Enhanced classification

After initial grinding, classifying wheel separates fine particles from coarser ones based on their size and density.  By utilizing centrifugal force, classifying wheel can distinguish particles. Larger particles that do not meet requirement are sent back to grinding chamber, while smaller particles are carried away by airflow. This  process is essential for achieving required particle size distribution.

2.3. Adjusting frequency of classifying wheel

By adjusting the frequency of classifying wheel can control classifying effect. The higher the frequency, the better the classifying effect, and the smaller the particle size; conversely, the lower the frequency, the larger the particle size. Reasonable adjustment of the frequency of classifying wheel is a key factor to improve the particle size distribution.
